Item Title:Report on BaySci K-5 Science Professional Development (10 Mins/Information)
Item Type:Information
Background:

BaySci was initiated in the Alameda Unified School District in the summer of 2012 and is supported through a grant awarded to the Lawrence Hall of Science. It is primarily an elementary school science initiative which provides teacher leadership training in science as well as professional development in science pedagogy and use of our adopted science curriculum. The work at the elementary level has been expanding to involve middle and high school science teachers in developing a district vision and mission and fostering seamless, high quality science teaching and learning at all levels.

In addition, trained teacher learners will provide guidance for implementing the district science vision and mission as well as conduct professional development in the use of Foss materials.

Tonight a presentation on the second year of implementation of the training will allow the public to gain a greater understanding of the initiative.
