Item Title:Approval of Recommendations for Phase II Planning for New Innovative Programs

Background:A new round of Request for Proposals (RFP) began in November 2013.  The new process includes two different applications, one for new innovative programs/magnet schools, and one for replications of existing programs. A Board of Education approval is required for proposals to move forward.  Replication programs are scheduled to open in August 2015, new programs or schools will open in August 2016.

At the June 24th Board of Education meeting, a recommendation was presented for two new innovative programs for Phase II, Planning and Development. The programs that presented were:  Franklin Elementary School Science FOCUS2 Program and Henry Haight Elementary School's Science Practice through English Arts, and Knowledge (SPEAK) program.  Tonight we are seeking approval for the allocation of funds ($7,000.00 per school) for planning and development. Analysis of the program proposals will be brought to the Board in May 2015
