Background:

The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) is a strategic partner to AUSD.  AEF manages programs that support AUSD K - 12 students with educational opportunities. Tonight AEF will be presenting general information about their programs as well as a wrap-up of last year and goals for the 2014-2015 school year.

             Alameda Education Foundation

Mission:  To engage the community, raise funds and coordinate programs to support and enhance the quality of K-12 public education in Alameda.


Key programs:

    ·       Visual and Performing Arts

2013-2014 Highlights:

    •        Adopted 169 classrooms - $84,500 to teachers.  
             This is 23 more than in the entire year of 2008-2009
             and 15 more than 2009-2010.

    •        Began an Early High School Academic Counseling
             program that will support approximately 700 9th or
            10th grade students from Alameda, ASTI and Encinal.

    •       Provided after-school, year round Middle School
             Sports program to 600 6th – 8th grade
             student-athletes. 

    •       Offered Enrichment after-school classes and summer 
            camps to over 4,000 K – 8 students.

    •        Established an internship program to support summer
             camps and provide experience for middle/high school 
             students.

    •        Provided over 1,000 low-income students with new
              backpacks and age-appropriate school supplies.

    •        Sponsored High School Information Nights to over 
              600 incoming freshmen and their parents.

    •        Educated over 200 students and parents about making 
             sound college financial decision through our College
             Finances 101 presentations.

2014-2015 Goals:

    •        Adopt 170 classrooms - $85,000 to teachers.

    •        Triple the number of donations to Power Up For
              Learning.

    •        Launch a summer program supporting high school
             students.

    •        Introduce over 2,000 students to the magic of music
             through the Oakland East Bay Symphony's Young
             People's Concerts.

    •        Strengthen competitive equity in our Middle School 
             Sports program.

    •        Continue to grow our partnerships within the 
             community.
