Item Title:Wood Middle School Field Lighting Project: Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration to Comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)(5 mins/Information)

Background:
 

With financial support of the Alameda Little League, the District is pursuing the project to install field lights on a baseball field at Wood Middle School.  The design of the project has been approved by the Division of the State Architect (DSA).  The District contracted with Douglas Herring & Associates (DHA), an environmental consultant, to conduct the initial environmental study and prepare a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the project.  The Initial Study (IS) is being presented to the Board and public tonight for public comment on the project.  The public comment period is open for 30 days, August 27 – October 1, 2014. Public comments should be directed to Dr. Robert Clark at rclark@alameda.k12.ca.us.  Comments received during the public comment period will be addressed at the October 14, 2014 board meeting.  Pending the public comments received, the Board will take action on the MND at the October 14, 2014 board meeting.

A public hearing will be conducted at the board meeting on September 23, 2014 to receive public comment regarding the project.
