| Background: | Girls Inc. of the Island City (GIIC) began offering free school based, afterschool programs in 2009 at two elementary schools. Between 2010 and 2013, GIIC has conducted 2-3 programs per year during in-school time and afterschool at an average of 3 schools per year. This year GIIC has increased the number of school based programs offered to 9 schools and impacting 175 girls:
