ALAMEDA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Approval of Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Parent Advisory Committee Membership
Item Type:Consent
Background:

This agenda item specifies the individuals appointed to the AUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan Parent Advisory Committee (LCAP PAC) for the 2014-15 school year.  This group will  provide input into AUSD’s Annual LCAP Update and development of the 2015-16 LCAP.

Education Code 52063(a)(2) mandates that the LCAP PAC include ‘parents or legal guardians or pupils to whom one or more of the definitions in Section 42238.01 apply.’  This section includes students who are eligible for free or reduced price meals, English Learners, and foster youth.

In addition, it is the intent of the LCAP PAC to include as broad a representation of AUSD parent/guardian population as possible.  This includes representation from schools within each geographic region of the district and the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

At the time this agenda item was prepared, the 9 names below represented all applicants of current Alameda Unified School District students.  With a stated capacity of 10 parent/guardian members, the remaining space will be kept open for additional applicants.  If additional applicants for these positions are received in advance of the next Board of Education meeting, recommendations for the final appointment will be made based on the criteria for intended LCAP PAC composition stated above.

The following 9 individuals are recommended as appointees to the AUSD LCAP Parent Advisory Committee:

1.  Collins, Williams
2.  Hastings, Jennifer
3.  Hyman, Michael
4.  Lucio, Jessica
5.  Mooney, Ron
6.  Nguyen, Loananh
7.  Oliveira, Merryn
8.  Penaranda, Ronnie
9.  Tellez-Reza, Martha

The group of 9 parents above meets the mandate of EC 52063(a)(2) and includes parents or legal guardians of the specified groups.

All LCAP PAC meetings are public meetings and will be announced across the district in advance.  All community members are welcome to participate and will be given equal opportunity to speak and contribute as appointed LCAP PAC members.  All interested community members and attendees can also, upon request, be included in the regular e-mail group for the LCAP PAC process.
