In 2010, with the 35th anniversary of Individuals with Disability Act being celebrated, the state, Alameda County Office of Education and Alameda Unified School District recognized December 3, 2010, as the Day of the Special Educator. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Special Education Day, recognized on December 2nd, the day Individuals with Disability Act was signed in 1975.
In appreciation of the contributions made by special educators in teaching pupils with unique needs, all Californians were urged to recognize the dedication and hard work of special educators on December 3, 2010 as proclaimed by the California Legislature Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) No. 99.
