| | | | | | | | | Item Title: | Recognition of Outgoing Board Member Trish Herrera Spencer (5 Mins/Information) | | Item Type: | Information | | Background: | The Governing Board provides leadership and citizen oversight of the district's schools. Working together, the Governing Board and the Superintendent establish a long-term vision for the District; maintain an effective organizational structure; and adopt policies, curriculum, budget, and the collective bargaining agreement.
Stretching far beyond just the boundaries of Alameda, Board Members and the Superintendent also provide community leadership and advocacy at the local, state, and national levels on behalf of children, district programs, and public education in general.
These vital roles are integral to the functioning of the District. Alameda Unified School District wishes to recognize, appreciate, and acknowledge Vice President Trish Herrera Spencer for her diligent service and commitment to the governance of the District.
Trish Herrera Spencer has worked earnestly and tirelessly for children and families of Alameda for years. Whether as a parent with children in AUSD schools, as a PTA leader in those schools, as a substitute teacher in the district, or as a Board trustee, Trish has been a stalwart advocate for students and staff in AUSD.
On behalf of those who have benefited from Trish Herrera Spencer's leadership, AUSD extends its most heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation for her years of service and leadership.
