Background:

On December 9, the Board voted to fill its current vacancy via appointment. The appointment must be made by February 10. The selection process is taking place over two special meetings.

At the first meeting on January 22, candidates were given time to address the Board as they saw fit. The Board then selected candidates to advance to a second meeting on February 3. At that meeting the Board will interview the remaining candidates and make its selection.

The Board expressed an interest in publicly discussing the format of the February 3 meeting in order to ensure that the public and the candidates fully understand the process. This agenda item provides the Board with possible formats culled from those used by other districts, and gives the Board an opportunity to direct staff regarding the structure of the February 3 meeting.
