| Background: | As AUSD continues the transition to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), a wide range of professional development opportunities have been provided to teachers to support their implementation of the standards. This professional development has spanned grade levels and content areas, focusing on the major shifts in teaching and learning informed by the new standards. Opportunities have included single workshops, workshop series, teacher-directed collaboration, regular meetings of teacher leaders, and districtwide roll-out of resources. Site administrators and teachers leaders have supported additional professional development at their individual schools. 2015-16 will include continued professional development in each of these areas to support staff in the ongoing implementation of the CCSS. |
