| Item Title: | Proclamation: AUSD Vision for Science Education (10 Mins/Information) | | Item Type: | Information | | Background: | The BaySci Initiative, sponsored the Lawrence Hall of Science, is in its third year of implementation in AUSD. The purpose of the initiative is to support high quality science instruction. We have three cohorts of elementary teacher leaders (22 teachers are currently active) and have also increased support for middle school science teachers. Although the original focus was on elementary science, the initiative evolved to include leadership work for the whole K-12 system. As part of our BaySci district action plan, we developed a vision and mission for K-12 science education in AUSD. The vision has been carefully and collaboratively created by teachers and administrators. From this vision, a proclamation has been crafted to capture the essence of the AUSD commitment to high quality science education.
