BOARD AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between Alameda Unified School District and Contra Costa County Office of Education BTSA Induction Program
Item Type:Consent
Background:

In California, completing a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) two year “induction program” is currently the pathway for teachers to obtain a clear teaching credential. BTSA induction programs are administered by California’s Department of Education (CDE) and Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Some school districts are authorized by the State to offer BTSA induction programs, some offer induction programs through a State authorized consortium with other districts and some offer no program at all. In order to support beginning teachers in the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD), we are proposing to continue a partnership with the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) for BTSA support.

This is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the CCCOE BTSA Induction Program and Alameda Unified School District in partnership to carry out the BTSA Induction Program and guidelines of SB 2042.  The purpose of this MOU is to establish a formal working relationship between the CCCOE and Alameda Unified School District and to set forth the operative conditions that will govern this partnership.
