A Proposition 39 general obligation bond measure requires the creation of a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (BOC). AUSD voters approved Measure I in November 2014 with 62.75% approval.
The District advertised and solicited applications for the six various categories of members to sit on the seven-member Committee. Applications were due to the District Office on May 22, 2015. The District’s Executive Cabinet met to review the received applications and discuss the qualifications of each. The proposed 2015-2016 BOC members reflect a combined group that have a vast array of experiences and proven commitment to the District.
The Superintendent recommends the following membership:
1. Business Representative: Kevin Waite
2. Senior Citizen: Don Sherratt
3. Parent in Alameda: John Baum
4. Parent Active in a PTA: Michelle Pero
5. At-Large #1: Juelle-Ann Boyer
6. At-Large #2: Kim Ondreck Carim
Of the applications received, none applied as a member active in a bona fide taxpayer association. The District is now seeking additional applications from the community for the member of a tax organization category. The application is attached to the board item and is also available on the AUSD website. The applications are due to the Superintendent by June 16th at noon. The Executive Cabinet will met again to review the applications received, and the Superintendent will return to the June 23rd board meeting with a recommendation for board action.
