In light of the ongoing pandemic, the California Department of Education (CDE) has relaxed some of the annual deadlines for submission of certain reports including the Local Control and Accountability (LCAP) and the School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSAs) which are typically due by June 30th each year.
However, CDE’s expectation was that school districts would continue to make efforts to comply with the guidelines set forth in the initial Governor’s Executive Order (EO) authorizing school closure due to the pandemic.
Tonight, staff are presenting an overview of the changes made to program offerings in response to school closures to address the COVID-19 emergency, and the major impact of the closures on students and families.
Some of the areas covered are the steps taken to:
- Meet the needs of English Learners, Foster youth, and low income students
- Continue delivering high-quality Distance Learning Opportunities
- Provide school meals while maintaining social distancing practices
- Arrange for supervision of students during ordinary school hours
A formal LCAP report and SPSAs will be due at the end of the calendar year in December 2020.
