Item Title:Approval of District Wide High School Scholarship Awards

Background:
 
Encinal Junior and Senior High School and Alameda High School have presented outstanding graduating seniors various District scholarships. Award recipients were determined by selection committees at each site.


Education Code 44015 states that individual awards in excess of $200.00 must be expressly approved by the Board of Education.

This year the awards were presented as follows:

 

  • Lou Allen Scholarship - $500.00 - Awarded to Rebecca Pimjai Cullison (EHS)
  • Susan Scott Scholarship - $1,000.00 - Awarded to Dongmao Rong (EHS)
  • Beatrice B. Barrett Scholarship - $1,000.00 - Awarded to Caroline Choi (AHS)
  • Kofman Alameda Time Star Journalism Scholarship - $960.00 - Awarded to Alvin Li (EHS)
  • Paul Hardy Parker Scholarship - $5,000.00 - Awarded to Naomi Phillips (EHS)
  • Marlene and Steve Kofman Scholarship - $3,000.00 - Awarded to Astrid Said (AHS)
  • Cox/Hollywood Scholarship - $500.00 - Awarded to Jennifer Wong (AHS) 
  • Steven Sizer Scholarship - $1,000.00 - Awarded to Trinity Zhang (AHS) 

 

The following District scholarships received no applications this year. 

Miss Nicole Jones Memorial Scholarship

Paul Hardy Parker Scholarship (AHS, was awarded at EHS)

Kofman Alameda Time Start Journalism Scholarship (AHS, was awarded at EHS)

Sally Gallagher Memorial Scholarship
