Item Title:Proclamation: Filipino American History Month - October

Background:

October 18th of 1587 was the date of the first documented proof of Filipinos in the Continental United States. In October of 1988, the Filipino American National Historical Society declared October as Filipino American History Month. This month is officially recognized by the California Department of Education as a month to celebrate our Filipino American citizens.

 

Tonight, we also proclaim October as Filipino American History Month.

AUSD LCAP Goals:1. Eliminate barriers to student success and maximize learning time.| 2a. Support all students in becoming college and career ready.| 2b. Support all English Learners (ELs) in becoming college and career ready.| 3. Support parent/guardian development as knowledgeable partners and effective advocates for student success.| 4.
