African American history reflects a determined spirit of perseverance and cultural pride in a people's struggle to equally share in the opportunities of a nation founded upon the principles of freedom and liberty for all people.
Each year the Board of Education recognizes the countless contributions that African Americans have made and proclaims February as African American History Month. The observance calls our attention to the extraordinary contributions African Americans have made to the rich cultural history of our nation.
The theme for 2021 is The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity.
