Background:

With the recent relaunch of AUSD's work on Equity with the Kingmakers of Oakland, it has become necessary for AUSD to re-evaluate the existing district policies. BP 0110 Statement on Equity was last revised in 2007.

 

The Board of Education would like to see the policies be made more robust around AUSD's intention and articulation in regards to Equity. The intent is to begin a conversation to gather and include input from stakeholders; students, parents, staff, and the community at large. 

 

The following policies were placed on the agenda for a first reading at the Board Policy Subcommittee Meeting held on October 15, 2020.

 

  • BP 0110 Statement on Equity
  • BP 0145 Equity

 

Both policies were recommended for further discussion by the full Board as a general business item at tonight's Board of Education meeting.

 

AUSD LCAP Goals:1. Eliminate barriers to student success and maximize learning time.| 2a. Support all students in becoming college and career ready.| 2b. Support all English Learners (ELs) in becoming college and career ready.| 3. Support parent/guardian development as knowledgeable partners and effective advocates for student success.| 4. Ensure that all students have access to basic services.
