At the March 10, 2020 Board of Education meeting, Board Members expressed the need to update and align AUSD’s Board Bylaws on Board Member conduct and accountability.

The Board of Education recommended that the Board Policy Subcommittee evaluate this issue, and consult CSBA recommendations and other districts to align the District’s bylaws with the updated standard. The Subcommittee would then present their proposal to the full Board at a later Board meeting. 

The following Board Bylaw was placed on the agenda for a first reading at the Board Policy Subcommittee Meeting held on October 15, 2020.

Possible changes or additions to this Board Bylaw may include the addition of language to provide a protocol for officially censuring individual Board members when necessary and appropriate because of that Board member's improper actions, statements, or other conduct, or if a Board member participates in unlawful or improper actions.
