In light of the ongoing pandemic and its potential impact on student experience and challenges, at the July 22, 2020 Board of Education Meeting, staff recommended the provisional reduction of total credits required to graduate from 230 to 220 for seniors scheduled to graduate in June of 2021.
This 1-year provision would apply to students throughout and up until the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year. The 10 credit reduction applies to the total credits earned but will not exempt students from meeting the core graduation requirements listed on the AUSD website.
Tonight, Staff recommends permanently changing AUSD's credit requirements for graduation to a total of 220 credits and seek the Board's approval to move forward.
Staff are also requesting approval of the inclusion of the Ethnic Studies Course as a graduation requirement.
