The bylaws of the Measure I Bond Oversight Committee were adopted by the Board of Education on January 27, 2015. Per the adopted bylaws, “Except as otherwise provided herein, each member shall serve a term of two (2) years, commencing as of the date of appointment by the Board. No member may serve more than three (3) consecutive terms…members whose terms have expired may continue to serve on the Committee until a successor has been appointed.”

Currently the committee has five members, with open positions for an At-Large #2 member and a PTA Active Parent member. Of these five members, two have reached the end of their third consecutive term.  For continuity and in consideration of the difficulty in filling open positions, staff sees the value in allowing the existing members to apply for open positions.  

Staff is asking the Board to approve the draft update to the bylaws which would allow members to continue their service. The District would advertise for these two positions and ask both members to reapply for their appointments if approved and should they be interested.

These bylaws are specific to the Measure I Bond Oversight Committee and would not impact the operations of any other District committees.
