ALAMEDA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Approval of Renaming and Deletion of Board Policies and Board Bylaws for Transition to GAMUT Policy Plus
Item Type:Consent
Background:

The California School Board Association (CSBA) provides the District with regular updates to Board Policies and Administrative Regulations keeping them current and up-to-date. They also maintain AUSD’s Board Policy Catalog on GAMUT Online. As of July 1, 2021, CSBA is moving to a new platform, GAMUT Policy Plus.

As of January 1, 2021 districts have been given direct access to their manuals on GAMUT Policy Plus to upload and update as necessary. CSBA will continue to support the District by hosting the platform, providing updates on policies, and advisement upon request.

To assist with the transition, CSBA has transferred AUSD’s existing catalog over to the new platform. During this process, several policies and/or regulations were ‘tagged’ for review. These fall into three categories:

List No. 1: Policies and/or Regulations with titles that do not match CSBA’s sample policy manual

List No. 2: Policies and/or Regulations that have not been deleted from AUSD’s Policy manual

List No. 3: Policies and/or Regulations that are unique to AUSD and must be retained.

In order to bring AUSD’s catalog up to date and ready to ‘go live’ on or before July 1, 2021, the following steps must be taken:

1.     Correct the title and/or numbers that do not match CSBA’s sample policy manual

2.     Delete Policies and/or Regulations that no longer exist on CSBA’s sample policy manual

3.     Provide a list of the Policies and/or Regulations that are unique to AUSD. CSBA will advise the district if these can be:

-        retained as is,

-        given a more appropriate title,

-        assigned a new number within the series,

-        or deleted entirely if duplicated elsewhere.

The Board Policy subcommittee reviewed the attached lists at the meeting held on April 26th. Tonight, staff request approval from the Board to move forward with renaming policies on List No. 1 and deleting policies on List No. 2.
