Background:
 

Governor Newsom submitted his 2023-2024 State Budget proposal to the legislature on January 10, 2023. Staff attended School Services of California Governor's Budget Workshop in Sacramento on Wednesday, January 18.

 

The budget proposal includes significant investments in the K-12 education system made possible due to the unexpected turnaround in the State revenue. The proposal also includes creating various categorical resources rather than providing unrestricted funds for Schools Boards to make local decisions.

 

The Governor will provide his revised 2023-2024 budget proposal in May 2023.

 

Tonight, staff will provide a briefing on the Governor’s budget proposal for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
