Item Title:Approval of Psychology Textbook Adoption for Alameda High School and Encinal High School

Background:

The Psychology Textbook Adoption Committee is recommending that AUSD adopt “Thinking about Psychology” 4th edition Bedford, Freeman, and Worth (BFW), as the Psychology textbook. The adoption purchase will cover 5 years and includes 150 textbooks, along with 150 online student platforms called Launchpad, and 4 teacher editions of the curriculum. 

 

The online platform Launchpad, includes an electronic version of the textbook and other features such as quizzes and online psychological experiments where students pose a research question and design experiments while figuring out how to measure, interpret, and draw conclusions from data. The document attached to this agenda item describes the selection and pilot process the committee followed, AUSD Psychology teacher's feedback about the curriculum, and the cost for a 5-year adoption of the curriculum.
