Tonight staff will present an update on the Elementary School Schedule/Master Scheduling for the 2023-2024 school year, which will include:
- Background on why a master schedule is integral to supporting student learning,
- The barriers to implementation of a master schedule for elementary schools, and
- A preview of the additional work to come during implementation
A master schedule will:
- Provide consistency within the instructional day and in the implementation of the district curriculum
- Protect instructional time for the optimal delivery of both Core and Specialist Educational Standards
- Provide time for special education services, intervention and enrichment programs within the school day that supports core instruction and accountability requirements without pulling students from Tier I instruction by
- Establishing blocks of time for Interventions/Cluster Grouped Classrooms
- Common blocks within grade spans creating flexibility and movement within the systems
- Common blocks to provide an educational service model that promotes the least restrictive environment
- Alignment of Social Emotional Learning (SEL)/Positive Behavioral Interventions & supports (PBIS), and
- Instructional minutes driven by research based best practice
