Background:
 

At the annual organization meeting, the Board sets its meeting schedule for the calendar year. Board of Education regular meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.    

Attached is the proposed calendar of regular Board meetings for the 2024 calendar year. Per Ed Code, the schedule of Board meetings can only be approved in December for the year immediately following. The dates for the 2025 calendar year will come to the Board for action at the December 2024 Board meeting. 

 

In April 2024, the second Tuesday falls during AUSD's Spring Break (the AUSD 2023-2024 school year calendar attached), and the fourth Tuesday falls on a religious holiday. Staff proposes cancelling the first April meeting and moving the second April meeting to April 16 (third Tuesday). 

 

In November 2024, the fourth Tuesday falls during AUSD's Fall Break. Staff proposes cancelling this meeting. 

 

Staff is asking the Board to approve the 2024 calendar of Board meeting dates as shown.
