Background:

AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a program that was introduced in the 2023-24 SY for 5th grade at Ruby Bridges, 6th grade at Wood Middle School, and 9th grade at Encinal Jr./Sr. High School. In 2024-25 it was expanded to 4th/5th grade at Ruby Bridges, 6th/7th grade at Wood Middle School, and 6th/7th and 9th/10th grades at Encinal Jr./Sr. High School.

 

For the 2025-26 school year, the program will expand to grades 4-12 at these three school sites. Tonight's presentation is an update on the benefits and status of AVID in AUSD and will feature short presentations by Ruby Bridges Elementary, Wood Middle School, and Encinal Jr./Sr. High School staff and students.
