Background:

The Board of Education recognizes that working Americans are the foundation of our Nation's continued economic success and prosperity. Whether building the Golden Gate Bridge or the Park Street Bridge, they have built our country and enriched our communities.

 

On Labor Day, we honor the contributions of working men and women today and throughout our history. A proclamation recognizing September 7, 2026 as a day to celebrate our working Americans is being brought forward tonight for approval.
