documented proof of Filipinos in the Continental United States. In October of
1988, the Filipino American National Historical Society declared October as
Filipino American History Month. This month is officially recognized by the
California Department of Education as a month to celebrate our Filipino
American citizens. Tonight, we also proclaim October as Filipino American
