Stretching far beyond just the boundaries of Alameda, Board Members and the Superintendent also provide community leadership and advocacy at the local, state, and national levels on behalf of children, district programs, and public education in general.

 

These vital roles are integral to the functioning of the District. As their terms in office end, Alameda Unified School District wishes to recognize, appreciate, and acknowledge Board Member Mike McMahon and Board President Margie Sherratt for their diligent service and commitment to the governance of the District.

Mike McMahon has served admirably on the Board of Education since 2002. During that time, Mike pursued and attained a certificate in effective governance. He has provided significant contributions not only to AUSD, Alameda, and his fellow Board members, but he has also helped train many other educational leaders in effective school governance.


Margie Sherratt worked earnestly and tirelessly for decades in Alameda Unified School District as a teacher, counselor, principal, and district office leader. She has committed herself over many years of service to the goal of honoring and uplifting Alameda families, students, and community at large. Margie has contributed greatly to civic leadership over the years in many roles, both inside the school district and various civic leadership roles in her hometown.

On behalf of those who have benefited from Mike McMahon and Margie Sherratt's leadership, AUSD extends its most heartfelt thanks and sincerest appreciation for their years of service and leadership.
