In January 2012, the Alameda Unified School District authorized Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) to provide structural review of the non-Field Act approved portions of the historic Alameda High School. In April 2012, QKA provided the Historic Alameda High School Temporary Structural and Egress Mitigation Report that outlined the structural issues and temporary recommendations for the historic high school; this report led to the historic buildings’ temporary structural upgrades and debris fencing.
Since this time the District explored options for State funding under the Seismic Mitigation Program (SMP). After recent conversations with staff from the State Allocations Board, the District found that historic Alameda High School is eligible for SMP funding. With the understanding that the remaining funding authorization is diminishing, AUSD authorized QKA and their structural engineer to expeditiously complete the multiple steps required to submit for SMP funding.
Mark Quattrocchi from QKA will present the project’s background and update on historic Alameda High School's Seismic Mitigation Program work as well as review steps being taken for eligibility of other potential State funding programs.
