Background:

The Board has designated today’s meeting as the annual organizational meeting required by section 35143 of the Education Code. Section 35143 states that the Board shall elect officers at its annual organizational meeting.

Board Bylaw 9320 states that as part of the Board’s general policy governing the rotation of Board offices, the Board’s sitting Clerk shall accede to the office of Board Vice President at the annual organizational meeting.

The Vice President performs the President's duties should the President resign or be absent or disabled and performs other duties as may be assigned by Board Policy.

This resolution documents the election of the current Clerk as its new Vice President in accordance with Board Bylaw 9320. Like all Board officers, the new Vice President will serve a term of one year.
