| Background: | This item presents the planned changes to AUSD’s secondary math pathways. The presentation includes a discussion of the rationale, process for decision-making, data supporting the discussion, and next steps. The key priorities in considering changes to the secondary math pathway were to minimize the amount of content missed at any point of acceleration while preserving the ability to reach the same advanced mathematics 12 grade courses. To achieve this, the staff involved in developing the plan identified multiple avenues for acceleration, a key shift from the current single point of acceleration between 6th and 7th grade. |
