BOARD AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Dress Code Pilot Report (15 Mins/Information)
Item Type:Information
Background:Pilot versions of both Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5132 (Student Dress Code) were approved at the end of the 2017-18 school year.  This pilot policy was the result of a workgroup convened following student and staff advocacy within a middle school and during Board of Education meetings.  The pilot policy was based, in large part, on the model policy language developed by the Oregon chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW).  The pilot language states that results and recommendations shall be presented to the Board of Education in both December 2018 and May 2019.  This item represents the first of those two reports and provides an overview of implementation results to date and introduces some considerations for policy review.
