The schematic design for the Encinal Junior and Senior High School was approved by the Board of Education on November 28, 2017. In addition to a new 12-classroom structure, the design included major modernization of the 200 building, 300 building, and eastern half of the 400 building. The design also included minor modernization of the western half of the 400 building, 700 building, and the science building. Additionally, the entire site will receive upgrades to the fire alarm system, technology, and door locks as part of the project.
On May 8, 2018, the Board directed staff to delay start of construction until July 2019 but to continue with all design work, including designing the new classroom building and modernization.
The Encinal Junior & Senior High School design work has been completed, and the District is currently awaiting the Department of State Architect’s final approval. An approval by the Board tonight would give the go-ahead to start modernization and construction work at the Encinal Junior and Senior High School.
