The Haight Renaming Committee met between April 2018 and January 2019. The committee followed the steps mandated by AR 7310 for renaming a facility. Specifically, the committee solicited name suggestions and then held two elections (a primary election and a general election) to determine which name had the most support in the Haight community. The resulting name was “Love Elementary School.”
As set forth in AR 7310, the committee presented a recommendation for the new name to Superintendent McPhetridge. He accepted the name and presented it to the Board of Education on January 22. The Board announced the proposed name on January 25. Public comments are being accepted through April 15.
This presentation summarizes the steps required in AR 7310 for renaming a facility and reviews when those required actions were completed, as well as the remaining steps to be taken.
