Tonight the Board is being presented with three (3) Memorandums of Understanding between Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) and Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) for approval.
1. Memorandum of Understanding between ACOE and AUSD: Integrated Learning Specialist Program
The MOU outlines the shared responsibilities and commitment of both parties for the successful expansion of the Integrated Learning Specialist Program into Alameda Unified School District, as a strategy for providing teachers and support providers with the tools, resources, and strategies necessary for deeper learning aligned to California Common Core standards and performance based assessments, and more specifically, to support achievement for students identified in the Low Performing Student Block Grant. Total compensation ACOE will receive from AUSD: $50,000.
2. Memorandum of Understanding between Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) and Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) for Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) Program:
The TUPE grant is funded by the California Department of Education (CDE) and covers the stipends for TUPE site coordinators identified at the Middle, High, and Continuation schools that have active Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) programs. TUPE coordinators will attend the site coordinator training in late September and plan and implement comprehensive TUPE programs on their school campus with support from the TUPE team at ACOE. The MOU outlines the process and protocol for stipends received from ACOE. AUSD will receive upto $2,400 per site coordinator to be paid out in two parts.
3. Memorandum of Understanding between ACOE and AUSD: K12 SWP STEAM Ahead
ACOE received a Career Technical Education (CTE) Grant from the K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP) funded by the California Department of Education. The Grant focuses on supporting AUSD in developing new CTE courses and dual enrollment opportunities for students in the areas of Big Data and Advanced Manufacturing in collaboration with the College of Alameda (CoA). Saildrone, an Alameda based company, is also partnering on this grant and the company has agreed to assist AUSD and CoA educators incorporate the data gathered by drone explorations into the new Big Data CTE courses. The MOU outlines the scope of services to be provided by both parties for the successful implementation of K12 SWP STEAM Ahead initiative. Total compensation AUSD will receive from ACOE: $44,384.
4. Memorandum of Understanding between ACOE and AUSD: K12 SWP Alternative Pathways to Teaching
ACOE received a Career Technical Education (CTE) Grant from the K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP) funded by the California Department of Education. The Grant focuses on strengthening Early Childhood Education (ECE) pathways located within alternative high schools in the East Bay. Island High School has a model program that connects students in Island High’s ECE pathway with work-based learning opportunities at Woodstock Childhood Development Center (WCDC). The Principal and Early Childhood teacher from Island High will provide professional development for other districts that are seeking to adopt a similar model and will also participate in an ECE Professional Learning Community. The MOU outlines the scope of services to be provided by both parties for the successful implementation of K12 SWP ALIGNMENT BAY AREA initiative. Total compensation AUSD will receive from ACOE: $7,082.
