ALAMEDA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Approval of Secondary Course Re-designation: Advanced Projects - Multimedia
Item Type:Consent
Background:

This item proposes the re-designation of an existing secondary course within an established Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway.

Alameda High School offers a Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway called “Multimedia” that consists of a sequence of two courses called Multimedia Art 1 and Advanced Multimedia Art. On June 27, 2017, the Board of Education approved a third course proposed by Alameda High School called Advanced Projects – Multimedia that was designated as the “Capstone” course in the pathway.

Due to the teacher’s reduced teaching schedule, there are limited number of seats available for students to enroll in Advanced Projects – Multimedia course. The restricted enrollment is negatively impacting the district’s Career Technical Education pathway completion data. AUSD’s Career Technical Education Coordinator recommended Alameda High School re-designate the course as an Elective effective the 2019-20 SY.
