ALAMEDA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Update on Strategic Plan Components: Focal Areas and Structure of the Plan (15 Mins/Information)
Item Type:Information
Background:

Through widespread consultation with the community, families, and the Board of Education, staff facilitated the development of a Graduate profile for AUSD this Fall. This graduate profile serves as the preface and articulation of vision to be pursued and supported through goals and actions that will be articulated in a strategic plan which is in the preliminary phases of development.

This forthcoming strategic plan, based on both the collective community aspirations for AUSD students expressed in the graduate profile, as well as deeper analysis of qualitative and quantitative student performance data, ultimately seeks to prioritize, mobilize, and focus district resources on specific set of high-leverage goals and actions aimed toward generating improvements in the outcomes and experiences of students and families served in AUSD.

Tonight’s brief presentation will offer a general outline of the potential structure of the strategic plan, including a look at some examples from other districts of how those plans are composed, as well as emergent focal areas that represent recurring or prominent improvement areas conveyed to staff through both the data and the community outreach process.

Lastly, we will provide an updated timeline for both community engagement, the drafting of the plan itself, and concurrent engagement with the Board between now and June of 2020 where we will seek Board approval of a final draft.
